Concert for the Humanity

Monday 7 January, 20:00 hours
Mapocho Station - Santiago

“When I listen to music, I don't fear danger. I am invulnerable. I do not see the
enemy. I am connected with the beginnings of the times, and the end of the

¨La music is perhaps the only universal language that can break down
barriers and cross borders
; it can touch hearts of all nationalities, colors,
religions and races. The music crosses time and space and continues to
resonate in silence long after the notes are finished. ¨ says Alejandra Urrutia,
Conductor of the Santiago Municipal Chamber Orchestra and the promoter of the

Concert for the Humanity.

John Lennon spoke of "Brotherhood of the Man" in his famous song Imagine,
where he also invited us to imagine what it would be like to be free from
discrimination and judgment and free from feelings of superiority and inferiority.
Today in Chile, we have the beautiful opportunity to bring together a large group
of people from different and glorious backgrounds - countries, languages,

cultures and lifestyles - in joyful harmony.

An orchestra, a choir, an emblematic place where everyone has converged over
the centuries. Chileans, Venezuelans, Spaniards, Colombians, United
States, Haitians, Argentines, Scots, Ecuadorians, Cubans, Germans
, playing
their instruments and raising their voices to share a message of fraternity,
brotherhood and humanity to the whole world. All together in the great Mapocho

Station - place of confluence of movement and cultures.

A choir of 203 voices (145 women, 57 men, 44 foreigners) and an orchestra of

120 musicians.

On January 7, 2019, we will embrace the great musical gift of an immortal being
who was born in Germany in 1770...Ludwig van Beethoven. An orchestra of
young professionals, four soloists and a choir of both professional and
community singers will celebrate our brotherhood and humanity by performing

Beethoven's great Ninth Symphony, "Ode to Joy".

The invitation will be made by e-mail and social networks for an audience of 5000
